History
The Beverly Youth Hockey league was formed in 1993. During the nine years prior, Beverly and Peabody shared resources as the Peabody/Beverly Youth Hockey Association. As a result of a deep desire to have Beverly children play on Beverly teams both parents and coaches joined together to start an all Beverly hockey program.
After a successful year of running a "Learn to Skate" program as well as sponsoring two teams playing "unofficial scrimmage games", Beverly Youth Hockey was accepted as a new member of USA Massachusetts Hockey, the organization that oversees youth hockey in the state.
In 1994 the new Beverly Youth Hockey Organization was formed. The teams were known as the Beverly Warriors. Beverly Youth Hockey is a recreational ice hockey league for both girls and boys. The program has been an important part of the community offering ice hockey for hundreds of kids. The program includes players from Learn to Skate, Cross Ice, Mites, Squirts, Pee Wees & Bantams.
Our mission is to both teach the players the necessary skills of hockey, and to insure that the experience is enjoyable and memorable. We strive to enforce fair play and sportsmanship from each and every player, as well as an appreciation of ice hockey that will last a lifetime. Our volunteers and coaches are extremely dedicated to the program. Whether you have years of hockey experience or just beginning, we offer multiple teams that suit your age and skill level and most importantly, we will make the experience of playing hockey a lot of fun. GO PANTHERS!
In 2004 Beverly Warriors changed their name to the Beverly Panthers. These changes are intended to bridge the gap with the High School team. Please come and cheer them on wearing their Beverly Panthers orange and black uniforms.
Beverly Youth Hockey experienced additional changes during the 2005-2006 season. We had a new President, John Morency who led our league for two years. Many thanks to Stu Spencer for serving as President the two years prior from 2003-2005. Brian Corcoran served as President in 2007-2008 followed by Alex Casagrande in 2009-2011, Mark DiGiovanni from 2011-2013, Amanda Mazzaglia (1st female President of BYH) in 2014, Brian Boudreault from 2014-2016, Mike O'leary from 2016-2018 and Dave Cook from 2018-2021. The league continues to experience dramatic growth with many new players joining BYH. Many of the players attend Beverly High School games as well as other games within BYH levels.
We are confident that the BYH program will continue to grow and have much success. We have a dedicated officers & a board of directors that bring vigor and energy to keep Beverly Youth Hockey the best program around.
